RSMo §107.170 — Missouri's "Little Miller Act" — requires a payment bond on public works contracts over $50,000, in an amount fixed by the public entity, and Missouri public bodies customarily require a performance bond on top of it. Providing the bond precludes any mechanic's lien under Chapter 429 by a subcontractor or supplier. Many private owners and lenders require the same bonds above $250,000.
