About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the waste hauler bond guarantees

Hubbard County licenses solid waste haulers under its Solid Waste Ordinance. A hauler/recyclable collector and transportation license application requires a certificate of insurance and a bond in the amount established by the County Board, naming the county as obligee, along with a list of all vehicles used for collection and transportation.

It is a three-party arrangement: you (the principal), the surety carrier, and Hubbard County (the obligee). The bond is conditioned on your compliance with the county’s solid waste rules — proper collection, transport, and disposal — and backs the county and the public if you violate them.

It is not insurance for you — if the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety. The County Board sets the amount; this bond is the $5,000 figure, which we issue at a flat 3% (landing at our $275 minimum) with no credit check.
