Under MCL 338.3633, before the department approves a contest or exhibition the promoter must file a bond fixed by the department at not less than $20,000 and not more than $50,000, payable to the State of Michigan and conditioned on faithful performance of the Michigan Unarmed Combat Regulatory Act (PA 403 of 2004). The bond must be purchased at least 5 days before the event and may satisfy payment to professionals, department costs for ring officials and physicians, and drug tests.
