Gaithersburg City Code § 7-7 requires every electrician to file a bond in the sum of $1,000, or proof of insurance with a minimum of $300,000 general liability and $100,000 property damage coverage, conditioned on performing all electrical work in accordance with Chapter 7 and indemnifying anyone harmed by a failure to do so. A new bond is required every two years, matching the license term set by § 7-5. Section 7-7 exempts an electrician licensed as a master electrician or master electrician (limited) by the State of Maryland or another Maryland licensing jurisdiction, while that license is in effect and proof is provided to the City.
