Code Section 2-23-6.1 of the Georgia Hemp Farming Act, added by SB 494 (2024), requires each applicant for a hemp processor permit to make and deliver to the Commissioner of Agriculture a surety bond executed by a surety corporation authorized to transact business in this state and approved by the Commissioner, accompanied by a certificate of good standing from the Commissioner of Insurance. The bond is set at 2% of the hemp purchased from licensed hemp growers in the most recent calendar year; the Department of Agriculture has established a $20,000 minimum and $1,000,000 maximum effective October 1, 2024.
