The Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to solicit proposals from qualified vehicle upfitting contractors capable of providing services that meet the requirements of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).
The selected contractor shall furnish comprehensive installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support services for all mission-critical onboard police equipment installed in MTPD patrol vehicles, ensuring reliability, operational readiness, and compliance with applicable standards.
The contractor shall procure, receive, transport, and install police equipment; install, retrofit, and configure all vehicle police equipment; diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs or replacements; perform wiring, cabling, harnessing, and electrical integration; touch up paint and re-decal vehicles following installation; provide written estimates before any work begins; and maintain documentation and records for all services performed. All installations must meet applicable federal, state, and local standards, OEM requirements, and industry best practices. The current fleet includes Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle, Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Police Interceptor Sedan, and Ford Police Interceptor Utility. Services shall cover emergency lighting equipment, mobile data systems, in-car camera systems, communication equipment, siren systems, aftermarket consoles, wiring harnesses, gun racks, transport systems, and all related hardware.
