Bedrock geologic mapping of the 1:24,000-scale Derry (North Half) quadrangle

• Conduct field data collection in the north half of the Derry Quadrangle and deliver a seamless

bedrock geologic map that is accurate with respect to the field data, and internally consistent in the interpreted delineation of map units, in electronic point and line format; where working on paper becomes absolutely necessary, and with prior discussion with and approval of the state geologist, a paper scan may be submitted, which must be legible to ensure the delineation of bedrock geologic map units in the area.

• Collect data on the mineralogy, texture, lithology, contacts between lithologic units, strike and

dip of fractures (including faults and joints), and other discontinuities with attention to such structures that may be water-bearing, bedding, foliations, and the trend and plunge of fold hinges and lineations at all bedrock outcrops and exposures that may be practicably accessed.

• Obtain and record the location, orientation, and type of planar and linear features in bedrock

outcrops during field mapping and provide to NHGS as the data is collected.

• Collect high-quality photographs of major geologic features, which shall be provided to NHGS as

raw digital image files, separate from inclusion in a Word or PDF document.

• Permission will need to be obtained from landowners before entering private property, which

may be obtained in writing or verbally by speaking with landowners prior to property access; NHGS will provide documentation in the form of a letter from the state geologist explaining the purpose of the mapping and reason for access to private property.

• Laboratory analyses, as deemed appropriate to answer specific geological questions, may

include quantities up to, but that do not exceed the quantities specified as follows: (1) thin section
