The NHDES Coastal Program is the recipient of a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation National Coastal Resilience Fund FY2025 grant entitled “Coastal Watershed Resilience Plan” (CWRP). The CWRP seeks to mitigate coastal and freshwater flood risk to assets across sectors, including transportation, critical infrastructure, natural resources, economy and community within New Hampshire’s Coastal Watershed.
The consultant will support the development of the Flood Hazards Assessment (FHA), lead the creation of Resilience Opportunity Area (ROA) Action Plans for 10-19 prioritized ROAs, create a transferrable framework for ROA Action Plan development, develop CWRP final products, and support robust community engagement. The FHA will identify 40-60 priority ROAs across 48 CW communities based on criteria including flood exposure, sensitivity, ecological significance, and local/regional criticality. The CWRP will advance these ROAs through stakeholder-guided alternatives analysis and conceptual design, resulting in 10-19 ROA Action Plans focused on nature-based strategies for flood and erosion resilience.
