The project consists of eliminating approximately 1.1 acres of an acid pit which will be backfilled with adjacent onsite mine spoil material (12 acres) and capped with the best material available on site. The water in the pit will be treated and raised to a pH of 6 or greater prior to release and backfilling of the pit in accordance with KYDAML Technical Specifications. Acidic spoils adjacent to the pit shall be used first in backfilling the pit to eliminate the acid forming potential of these materials. Spoil ridges in the designated areas will be graded at a maximum 3:1 slope with the best available material brought to the surface. Payment for this work will be by the cubic yard for Mine Spoil Excavation.
