The Town of Redding, CT is seeking proposals from contractors qualified to perform temporary repairs to the roof of the Weaving Building at the former Gilbert & Bennett Wire Mill. The Weaving Building is a historic four-story brick building, constructed ca 1900. The building is one of several remaining historic structures at the Wire Mill, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The project goal is to mitigate water infiltration from breaches in the Weaving Building roof and prevent further damage to the interior of the building. These repairs are intended to be temporary in nature, using cost-effective and durable materials suitable for the interim period of between 5-10 years.
