The Lead Service Line Replacement Program will target replacements of lead service lines within multiple areas of the Town of Putnam WPCA service territory. For the purposes of this project, galvanized steel is defined as a lead service line and should be removed and treated as if it was a lead pipe. Addresses may be added to and removed from the list by the Engineer or Owner within the defined Work Area throughout the project duration for a total of up to 223 service line replacements.
Replacements will typically be on the private side only, typically from the curb stop to the first fitting in the building using copper pipe. Public side replacements will be performed only if lead is identified onsite upstream of the curb stop during a test pit or private side replacement. Certain locations may require special replacement procedures, including the relocation of the service line from the water main to the building.
