The project consists of safeguarding thirty seven (37) mine features including nine (9) prospect adits, two (2) shafts, one (1) subsidence feature and twenty five (25) adits. Closure methods will include grates, corrugated steel pipes, backfill, polyurethane foam and bulkheads. Some features will include bat compatible grates or otherwise require bat exclusions prior to backfill or bulkhead. The uranium mine closure Safety, Health and Environmental Action Plan requirements will be applied. Some of the closures are foot access only due to their location along cliff lines or lack of access roads. Numerous closures are hand backfills with limited materials for backfill and will require Polyurethane Foam. Equipment traffic will be limited to existing roads and two tracks and will require approval of BLM and PROJECT MANAGER prior to any equipment access. Project access will take place on Mesa County roads. A helicopter may be required to long line materials into mine sites. The project also includes mobilization/demobilization, a Project Safety Plan (SHEAP), installation of mine closures, and additional bid items for manual labor, additional grating material, and additional polyurethane foam.
