Code Ann. § 75-67-609(c), to be eligible for a credit availability license an applicant shall file with the commissioner a bond with good security in the penal sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00), payable to the State of Mississippi, for the faithful performance by the licensee of the duties and obligations pertaining to the business so licensed and the prompt payment of any judgment which may be recovered against the licensee on account of charges or other claims arising directly or collectively from any violation of the article; the bond is not valid until the commissioner approves it. The applicant may file, in lieu of the bond, cash, a certificate of deposit, or government bonds in the amount of $10,000, and an applicant applying for multiple licenses may submit a single bond provided its total value equals $10,000 per license applied for. Related provisions set the license economics: § 75-67-605(3)(c) sets a $750 initial license fee and a $475 annual renewal fee due on or before September 1, with the license expiring if unpaid — but not before September 30 of the year the fee is due. The Department’s current published consumer disclosures set the maximum credit availability loan at $3,250, payable over four to twelve months depending on the amount borrowed.
