Section 70 of the Consumer Legal Funding Act requires an applicant to submit to the Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation, and maintain, a surety bond in the sum of $50,000, or such additional amount as the Secretary requires based on the licensee's prior-year volume of consumer legal fundings made, purchased, or serviced. The bond runs for the benefit of the Department and of any consumer harmed by a violation of the Act.
