About this bond

What it is and who needs it.

What the records-access bond covers

Arizona’s motor vehicle records are protected data. When a business buys those records electronically and in bulk from the MVD, ADOT conditions that access on a surety bond under the records-access provisions of A.R.S. Title 28, Chapter 2, Article 5. This particular program is for an LLC or corporation — not an individual.

The bond is a data-protection guarantee: it stands behind your obligation to use the motor vehicle records only for authorized, lawful purposes and to safeguard the personal information they contain, consistent with the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act and Arizona law. If the records are misused and someone is harmed, they can recover against the bond.

The amount is set by ADOT for your records-access agreement. Confirm the figure on your application; whatever it is, we issue the bond at a flat 3% with no credit check. If the surety pays a claim, you repay the surety.
